Coke Studio Season 3 Episode 1

"Alif Allah- Arif Lohar and Meesha Shafi" (A Masterpiece).

The very first episode of the third season and a combination of two very different chemicals, the fusion of which was a very risky step that could cost the show would be an understatement because the fusion of two different and widely variant generations singers was at play. Arif Lohar and Meesha Shafi who have nothing in common. Arif lohar a musical giant of his own generation along with his trade mark "chimta" constantly playing and whom all the young generation of Pakistan have heard throughout the 90's on Pakistan Television and Meesha Shafi on the extreme other end, a very edgy and contemporary young artist. The fusion which could have gone out of control and resulted in a blunder but the way Arif lohar & Meesha shafi fused together in complete harmony was just incredible to listen to.

Lohar usually with his hyped up performances was a little toned down owing to the indoor studio performance but you have to give it to shafi's strong vocals that made her voice prominent infront of the punjabi powerhouse.

It is amazing to watch how the duo effortlessly compliment each other styles in their third season Coke Studio performance. The music has the traditional rythmic tempo revamped with a touch of contemporary instruments and the result of which is extraordinary.

To top it all Gumby did an amazing job on the drums and the dark chorus that kicked in every now and then gave the song a slick motion.
